strawberries, strawberries everywhere!

Finn and I took a trip to the local farmer's market Friday for Strawberry Day.  While we were there, he asked for a few berries to eat.  I gave them to him and told him to only eat the berry, not the leaves.  I looked down a few minutes later, and he had eaten everything I gave him, berries, leaves and all!  What a little rabbit he is!  We came home with a few gallons of strawberries for eating and making jam.  Needless to say, there was a lot of berry eating going on at our house this weekend.

the kids enjoyed eating berries out on the deck...

even in the misty drizzle we had all weekend

Elizabeth was thrilled to be my strawberry jam helper.

She helped me make 10 pints of jam this weekend.

Finn was the official jam tester.
He gave it his seal of approval!

I think we were the definition of locavores this weekend, eating our weight in strawberries.

  3. Homemade strawberry jam is delish! Isn't it fun to work in the kitchen with our children? One of my favorite things to do. :)

  4. Yummy, I just want to gobble it up! I think we will try to make strawberry jam this year. Just have to wait a little longer for the strawberries to ripen here in Ohio.

  6. Grady and I picked a basket at Rudd today, but I wonder what yucky stuff they might have sprayed on them... we hope to hit the organic strawberry man at the Curb on Saturday. I love making jam, too!
