the last of the beach

The last few days of our beach trip we've been busy packing in every last bit of fun we possibly can. We've been busy

searching for the perfect shell,

watching the coquina clams burrow back into the sand,

jumping over waves,

practicing silly splash moves,

feeling the sea spray on our faces,

smiling through the sand,

collecting these little balls of sea jelly called Salp (Does anyone know what these are? They look similar to jellyfish but are all similarly sized and shaped and we found them everywhere at high tide today.)

digging holes,

playing in holes,

observing a thunderstorm roll over the ocean,

visiting the Graveyard of the Atlantic museum,

playing a round of putt-putt,

giggling at Finn's first putting experience,

scoring a hole-in-one in a lovely lush green setting,

climbing to the top of the lighthouse,

exploring some marshes,

marveling at the windsurfers,

basking in the warm glow of the ocean sunset.

goodbye beach! until next time...

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. See Soulemama to play along.

{single moment that took 4 photos to capture}

more beachy fun

being dragged on the boogie board by a big brother

being buried (standing up) in the sand by the siblings (which then sparked a 20 minute water shoe hunt)

watering the flowers

discovering a skate egg sac

digging a trench to the ocean

exploring the Hatteras lighthouse (in the crazy 95° heat)

watching the lighthouse climbers from a shady spot

relaxing on the beach house hammock

drying all the swimsuits during dinner (and now we can participate in Wash Wednesday)

finally, observing a lovely sunset over the sound with a windsurfer zipping along in the fading golden light
