first warm weekend

We started our weekend with scones, with blueberry sauce.  Yum!  Blueberry sauce that I regret not eating more of in my childhood when my mom and grandmother fixed it so often, and I preferred just syrup.  Alas...I make up for it now.

Paul had a midterm in Biostatistics (or something with a scary name resembling that) so Finn and I were on our own for several hours.  We watercolor painted, on paper this time.

Watched the grass grow, and watered it.

Played with the marbles, for a very, very long time.

Then, we went to the Farmer's Market and bought lots of fresh non-e.coli peanuts and vegetables.  On the way home, we stopped at the library and picked out a few spring-themed books, including a very cute board book called G is for Goat.  Sweet pictures. :)  While Finn napped, I made this quick little bunny to rest on Elizabeth's bed.  The bunny, now named Jenny, is stuffed with organic buckwheat groats and a few drops of Aura Cacia relaxation blend oil.

Following Paul's exam and Finn's nap, we headed to the woods for an extended walk since the temperature reached 74 that afternoon.  We saw some lovely things on our walk (see yesterday) and enjoyed the warmth, sun, breeze, fresh air and low insect roar from the nearby wetlands.

Sunday was just as warm and we took full advantage.  After church, and catching Finn enjoying the sheep down under the nature table, we headed outside again.

Finn played in the backyard while Paul and I did some garden preparation.

In just a few short weeks, we should be able to start planting some veggies out here.  I love this time of year!

Onward and upward to another week...another week closer to spring's official arrival.

  7. I love the painting! Grady tried water-color pencils the other day--he only wanted to use black an he rubbed several holes in the paper. I've gotta show him this picture so he can see what it's supposed to look like!
