Saturday Lunch

So...I'm thinking that Saturday Lunch is turning into a weekly thing around here (and here). Of course, everyone generally eats lunch on Saturdays, but since we spend almost every summer Saturday morning at the farmer's market, I like talking about the fresh, local fare we eat for lunch following our trip to the market.

This week we bought some free-range, organic eggs that we made into omelets. The squash and onion in the omelet also came from the market, as did the tomatoes and white peaches on the side.

Paul likes to take a walk on the wild side with his omelets. He often comes up with strange combinations that the rest of us don't care to try. His omelet today had salmon, not exactly local, but he's the only pescatarian in the group so he tries to fit it in where he can. He also included blueberries and strawberries from the market this morning.

Finn was content with lots of peaches...

and blueberries. (He actually ate quite a few after using them for eyeball replacements.)

Speaking of local eating, my friend, Jenni, has a local food challenge going during the month of July. You can visit her blog for the details if you'd like to participate. We'll be doing as much local as we can that month. Since I'll be on an out-of-town trip for a week and we have camp lunches to pack, the whole month would be nearly impossible. Summer is such a great time for this! Between our garden and the farmer's market, we are really enjoying the local produce right now.
