Happy Earth Day!

In honor of Earth Day, Paul, Paulie, Elizabeth and I decided to do a nature series from our own yard.  Every shot in the series is of a plant/flower in our yard or taken while standing in our yard.

My shots:

Finn's little hand clutching a dandelion

another bud discarded by Finn

the just-sprung leaves on our crepe myrtle

my new mexican heather plant

Elizabeth's shots:

petunias planted this weekend

Philip, clutching some clover buds

our front porch

Paulie's shots:

random weeds in our yard

Paul's shot:

the neighbor's horse pasture
as seen from our backyard

As we were heading inside, another spring storm brought this rainbow.  How fitting to end our Earth Day photo shoot with a rainbow.  (Yes, we have a horse pasture on one side, suburbia on the other.)

None of the kids' shots were directed by me in any way.  Didn't they do a fabulous job?!

  1. What a great rainbow picture. Perfect ending ...
    Happy Earth Day!

  2. wonderful photos. there are some budding photographers in your midst for sure. they did a wonderful job. i agree with Erin; how special to have a rainbow shot for the end.
    happy earth day.

  3. Gorgeous shots. What talent! Happy Earth Day!

  4. What a great way to include the kids in earth day. I love what they chose to take pictures of. :)

We're having fun playing with our back yard, and I'm sure we will regret it all as Kieran gets old. With any luck, though, we'll be out of suburbia and living with a LOT more acreage before he gets too much older. :)

  5. Yay!!
    Beautiful shots!
    Happy Earth Day!!

  6. Beautiful photos! What a special treat to witness the rainbow on Earth day.

  7. Beautiful! How great that you include them in your photographing-- they have good eyes!

  8. VERY nice guys!

I love clover...I think that is my fave just because I love it so much.

And the fun to see that! A day with a rainbow is always a good day. :)

  9. Beautiful photos. How perfect that you even had a rainbow!

I love to hear what you think!
