Yarn Along

For this week's Yarn Along, I'm working on the same Hermione's Everyday Socks.  Elizabeth's actual birthday is coming up in 5 days and I'm planning to have the second sock finished by then.  I didn't take any knitting with me to NYC, so now I'm in a rush to finish!

I did get quite a bit of reading done on our trip. I read Buried Memories: The Katie Beers Story, which was extraordinarily sad and touching to read, but it's on the Kindle so I don't have a photo for you.  Elizabeth and I have been reading the second book in the Betsy-Tacy series.  It's such a lovely read, reminiscent of another time and full of simple, sweet adventures.

I finished my Shifting Sands Cowl just in time for our trip, just before the lights went out during our snowstorm the night before we flew out.  I took many liberties with the cables so I hesitate to even say this is that particular cowl now.  I really enjoyed wearing this on our chilly trip to the city though!

  1. My daughter really enjoys the Betsy-Tace girls. Such good stories. The Hermione sock pattern is my next take-along project. I just realized socks make a great everyday knit. Lovely color choice.

  2. Hermione socks are on my queue! I want to read the Beer's memoir, too, as I remember that case so clearly when I was a pre-teen.

  3. Aw, I knit those same socks for my sister while I was honeymooning in Scotland - what memories! :) Love the yarn you chose for them - it works really well with the pattern.

  4. Katie Beers was on the Dr. Phil show last week. I feel so bad for this young woman and I don't know if I could handle reading the book.

I'm glad your cowl came in handy. :-)
