Yarn Along

Joining Ginny for Yarn Along this morning, I have a couple of works currently in progress. I decided that in addition to the Shalom cardigan, I would like to have new neckwear for our trip to NYC this weekend. The Shifting Sands cowl seemed like a good fit and I found some orange Malabrigo sock yarn in my stash.  I'm about 3/4 of the way done so I'm fairly certain I can finish it by tomorrow evening. :)

We also started reading a new book at bedtime, Caddie Woodlawn.  I think my oldest read it years ago, but I started reading it to the whole group this weekend.  It's like a spunkier, slightly less sweet version of Laura Ingalls.  I think the kids enjoy hearing about Caddie's escapades though.

I also started a pair of socks for Elizabeth's birthday.  I chose Hermione's Everyday Socks for the pattern and Stroll Hand-Painted Sock yarn in Lullaby.  I think she'll like the texture, and let's be honest, the name will have some pull as well.

Since last week, I've finished my thick wooly socks.  They are cozy, if not particularly fancy, and will keep my feet warm this winter.  I also finished Paul's acorn hat (without the little nub on top). But he has yet to let me photograph him wearing it.

  4. Beautiful colors! I'm not usually attracted to oranges, but that orange is goregous! Caddie Woodlawn was one of my favorite books as a little girl. I haven't read it to my boys quite yet, but it's on the list to hit soon.

  9. What inspiring knitting! I love the bright colors and your photos. We read Caddie Woodlawn a few months ago, and everyone loved it. We followed that book with several lesser-known titles by Carol Ryrie Brink, and she's become a favorite author. :)
