Yarn Along and a little bit of happiness

Joining the lovely Ginny again for Yarn Along, I've been furiously knitting all week on a sweet little sweater for Elizabeth's American Girl doll. Elizabeth's birthday is on Friday so I'm getting down to the wire! The yarn is Knit Picks Stroll Multi in Princess. The entire sweater will use less than 1 ball (at $3.99, woohoo!) and I'll probably have enough to make a little AG hat as well. The reading selection is actually Elizabeth's as well. She and I have been reading The Mother Daughter Book Club together in the evenings. Not high literature, but an entertaining read, and I'm hoping it will lead to our reading Little Women together (the book subject of the club). Elizabeth has really enjoyed reading this, and actually asked for the second book in the series for her birthday.

I also wanted to include some moments of happiness from our home over the last week, also inspired by Ginny's "bits of joy". I could use a little more focus on the joyous moments of life as well.

  3. I'm a Louisa May Alcott fan too. :) Pretty photo snippets - focusing on joy is something I strive for myself. Just wanted to let you know that I shared your lovely paper heart banner photo on my blog (referencing the original post) and your blog too. It was just the nicest homemade thing! And I love how it was a true collaboration.

  4. Love the doll sweater! I just finished up a pair of dollie pants. I am a huge fan of Little Woman. My grandmother read it to me many times as a bedtime story.

Love all the bits of happiness going on. I need to focus more on those. The grey and cold weather has me missing those moments too much.

    Blessings, Elizabeth

  6. Reading Little Women with my daughter is one of my fondest memories of homeschooling. She drew one picture for every chapter while I read it aloud, then we bound it together...

  9. How wonderful to be sharing that special time with your daughter reading together and i LOVE the yellow butter you all made below :) I have come across quite a few mamas reading the Little House books and I think I'm going to have to pull them out and read them again with the kids. I just love her books and thinking of them making yellow butter to make the table look 'pretty' makes me smile :) Happy knitting and looking forward to seeing more 'bits of joy' next week :)
