nature crowns

Today was a little bit dreary and chilly so we decided to spend just a few minutes outside collecting pine twigs and tiny pinecones to make nature crowns. Before we gathered the decorations, I spent a few minutes braiding 3 thin strands of wool roving together about 16-20 inches long and then knotted them together at the ends.

We wove the ends of the twigs into the braiding of the roving.

Then glued the tiny pinecones directly to the roving in between the twigs.

The result: individual little nature crowns for each of the kids.

The each had a small amount of personality of each child, some with more twigs, some very sparse of all decoration.

Beautiful little winter fairies!

They almost have a caesar-esque appearance.

And they made a few children happy for the afternoon.
