Poems and Puzzles

The sight off our deck this evening
as the sun went down behind the trees.

The fuzzy darkness with peaks of faint color reminded me
of this poem in the Wendell Berry book
I gave Paul for Valentine's Day.

To Know The Dark

To go in the dark with a light is to know the light
To know the dark, go dark.  Go without sight
and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings,
and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings.

~Wendell Berry

On another note, Philip came home from school with this thick paper.  He had drawn a picture on one side and carefully mapped puzzle lines on the other side.  He trimmed them out carefully then set to work putting together the puzzle he'd crafted.

I thought he did a fantastic job and the finished product was slightly remniscent of an earlier puzzle we worked together.
