the face of God

When I was small, I always thought the sunbeams streaming out from behind a cloud were God. (That idea might have been based on the pictures in this book, which my own kids still read.) After I had a rather blah day, Paul snapped this photo with his camera phone this evening and emailed it to me with just the subject line God. Somehow it seems fitting that He would show Himself in just simple ray of light through our evening sky at the right moment.

Where never lark, nor even eagle flew –
And, while with silent lifting mind I’ve trod
The high, untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.
~ John Gillespie Magee
