Yarn Along

Yet another week has passed in which I spent more time at the sewing machine than with the knitting needles.  I did manage to finish a project and start a simple one.  After seeing these chicken egg cozies on Ravelry, I thought it might make a fun game for a friend's new little one with the egg cozies and wooden eggs. (Not to mention it might use up a bit of my ever burgeoning scrap stash.) The stack of books is actually reading for the entire family right now.  Every winter I start collecting books, mostly from our local used bookstore, pertaining to the travel we will be doing that summer.  About 8 weeks before our trip, I will start spreading the books between the children and encouraging them to read some of these books to help them better enjoy the experience. I also pay them a small amount for each completed book which serves as their spending money for the trip.  This represents many, but not all, of the books that we are reading this year in preparation for our road trip this summer when we will be visiting Valley Forge, Gettysburg, and a few other places as well.

And the complete socks from last week, which Finn received with a "Mom! No more wool cozy socks! It's almost summer." I guess my sock knitting is done for the season!

  1. We're reading our way through American history this year...Johnny Tremain is a family favorite! As far as the socks go, you can always start working on next year's stash... ;)
